Showers, Showers...

Here are some pics from the baby showers we had and from when my sis was home visiting. It is hard to believe that the next time we see each other we will both be Moms! We had some amazing showers and are SO thankful for all of our family and friends that worked so hard to make our days so special! We love you all!!!

Amazing table

Ella's Cake made by Mama Marilyn, amazing!
Jackson's cake
All of our hostesses
Mom gave us our childhood stuffed animals back!

We got a good laugh out of it!

She also had taken all of my Dads old shirts and made them into quilts for the babies so they can always have a part of him with them. Needless to say the whole room of 30 plus women were bawling

Especially us!

This is probably the best gift I've ever been given. I still haven't decided whether Ella is going to actually get the blanket or not, Ive been sleeping with it ever since ;) Such a beautiful gift, we have one AMAZING Mom!
While Linds was home we wanted to take some fun pictures together. Ella and Jackson each have their own pair of Chuck Taylors

"Bump to Bump"

Our adorable bracelets we got at our shower from my moms childhood friend Wendy. Love them!

And we had to end it with one of our "traditional" pictures. I'm not even sure why we started doing this or where it came from but every time we see each other we always take a picture doing this. I think when we are 50 I'm gonna make a book of all of these pictures! Love my sis!

PJ - the 3 month mark

I took Pj's 3 month pics earlier this month and his growth has just blown me away! He isn't my tiny, sweet, little baby anymore! His back almost comes up to my armpit, and he has shed most of his baby fur and is looking more mature and filled out every time I see him. He is still very friendly and sweet but is now figuring out he is a boy. He is pretty ornery and has been known to nibble and pull on your clothes etc. We are currently working on these issues...but I just cant get over how good looking he is becoming (I'm not bias at all.) I think he is going to be a pretty fancy looking guy when it's all said and done!

How could my little tiny baby...
be this big in 3 short months?!
He is filling out nicely though

The Ella Update

I had my regular appointment with my OB yesterday and things are right on track for Ella and me. I don't have gestational diabetes and all my other tests have been good. They are still waiting to hear back on my Cystic Fibrosis test so I should be hearing about that in the next few days. My doctor said I am right on track to gain the recommended 25-35lbs which makes me really happy! I asked her what the plan was going to be since my due date is 3 days before Thanksgiving. Some docs will go ahead and induce if a holiday is coming up and some wont. Well I have a doctor who won't. She said since I'm a first time mom they are going to try and give me enough time to let me go into natural labor. She did go ahead and schedule me to be induced a week after my due date if she hasn't come by then. So at 5:30am on November 28th Ella is being evicted if she decides to be fashionably late. If I know my daughter she will wait to make a grand entrance on Thanksgiving, I just have a feeling, we will see! I have one last ultrasound September 12 with the specialist to check out her growth. I am SO excited, they always turn on the 3D/4D and I cant wait to see what she looks like this time around.

We had a busy weekend this past weekend. My sister was in town and we had all sorts of baby showers. I'll post pics from our fun weekend soon!

A Sigh of Relief

We went back to the specialist this morning for another ultrasound to check out the "bright spots" that were detected at the last appointment. I am THRILLED to say that the bright spot in her bowels is completely GONE! Woohoo!!!! The bright spot in the heart is still there but the Dr. said he isn't worried about that at all. Said its pretty common to see stuff like this with all the new hi-tech equipment being used etc. He was very positive and said Ella looked perfect. She is growing right on target and weighs 1lb 3oz. I am one relieved Mama to say the very least!

They turned on the 3D/4D and it is just so amazing! She actually looks more like a sweet little baby rather than an alien. She is filling out and she def has my nose. :) I think she is going to be a good mix of me and her daddy. I cant wait to see her and hold her! It's so crazy how you can love something so much already!

They gave me a CD on top of all the pictures this time so I actually have some clear images! YAY!!!

Our "other" Girl, Pearl

Today I felt the need to give a shout out to my other little girl, Miss Pearl Louise. Pearl is the sweetest, funniest, craziest, little bird dog you ever met. We got her from the OKC pound back in January. I was totally against getting another dog. We had 2 and I like even numbers, life was just great in my eyes. I was not about to spend $500.00 plus on a bird dog from a breeder just so Ben could (possibly) hunt a few months out of the year. I love pound puppies and will forever and ever have them. So Ben knowing this and knowing I would never go for a dog priced like that especially since he had never trained one before, found little Miss Pearl on OKC's pound website. I, like a fool, agreed to go with him just to "look" at her. Ya right, he knew damn well I can't say no to a puppy, especially in a pound setting. So we went and looked. She was in a cage with about 7 other "Toto" looking dogs. She was shaking and scared to death. He gave me the look and I said "Pick her up, shes coming home..." So just like that had stolen our hearts and we had dog #3! So over the past few months Ben has been reading books, picking brains of fellow hunters, and working mostly everyday with this dog. My Dad's good friend and long time bird dog trainer has been helping Ben out free of charge and has been so wonderful! (Thanks Larry!!!) She has been doing really well with the obedience part and Ben has been SO worried she wouldnt do so well with the birds just because she is SO laid back and doesnt get excited over much unless she is playing with her brothers or us. So last night was a BIG night for the Daves "dog" family. It was Pearl's first lesson with quail. I didnt go just because I knew I would feel horrible when the birds, who were just sitting on my porch in a box, started to bite the dust...I know, I have a bleeding heart for animals of all shapes and sizes, even birds. So anyway, he took her out to Mitch park last night and apparently (Thank to good LORD) our little pound puppy that could, loves birds!!!! I could see the relief on Bens face when he walked through the door. I asked "Sooo how did it go?" with a crooked grin he replied "O it went ok." In Ben language that means "It went really well, I'm just trying to downplay it a little bit because I dont want to jinx it." She still has a ways to go but we saw the bird dog come out in her last night which is really encouraging! Not bad for a $50 gamble :) I was a proud Mama and proud that my husband has done such a great job with her. I gave him a lot of hell about her in the beginning, but I am now publicly retracting all previous statements made and giving him the "Atta Boy". Great job babe and great job baby Pearl!!!!!

Now how could anyone say no to this face??
Pearl at 10wks
Proud Papa! The night we brought her home
And even a proud Grandma. Ol' Les LOVES this dog! Proof...Pearl is on the furniture and in her lap. No Pet has EVER been allowed on furniture let alone inside the McVay house. So big props to Pearl for breaking down that pet barrier :)

Snow puppy! Her first encounter with snow
Just pitiful...They are quite the pair though, love at first sight
Pearl also loves Maggie, Maggie...well, didnt really care too much about Pearl :)
She also loves to wear her Dad's hats
The Big moment!!! Pearl with her first quail!!!! It blends in pretty well but I can assure you there is one in her mouth! Way to go baby girl!!
Pooped out!! Hunting was WAY too much fun!!

The Beaver Weddin'

At the beginning of June we headed out to my Dad's home town of Beaver, OK for my cousin Paige's wedding! Beaver is a small town in the panhandle of OK where my Dad and his brothers and sisters grew up. My uncle Mike is now the principal and head football coach. The football stadium is named after my grandpa who was also the football coach there. Going out to Beaver is always special because the town was so near and dear to my Dads heart. We had a blast and it was great to see all of our family and see my cousin marry the love of her life!
